Part 1

You have the task of installing and configuring a secure network for your company. In order to accomplish this you should begin by looking at commercially available firewalls and making a recommendation to your superiors on the best product to purchase.

For this assignment, produce a report of available firewalls (both hardware and software). List their features, price, and state how you could use a particular firewall in the company. Be sure to include the firewall mentioned in your book. In your report, include firewalls of varying complexity – do not limit yourself to firewalls for small networks.

Please do not copy and paste matter from the web (except for images of the products). Explain the product in your own words.

Part 2

The alt.comp.networking.firewalls newsgroup is a great place to seek and read advice on firewalls. Browse through this newsgroup (use google groups to get to it) and list some, in your opinion, interesting and useful posts.
