Adventures in Information: Research In (And Beyond) The Library

Guided by Hannon Library’s Information Literacy expert Dale Vidmar, learn how to find needed information using research tools and collections available on the Web, as well as those only available to faculty, staff, and students at SOU. Develop a clear understanding of how to find and evaluate information efficiently, effectively, and ethically. Students will learn basic and advanced search strategies to master research using a variety of tools from Internet search engines such as Google and Yahoo! to library catalogs and research databases such as EBSCO Academic Search Premier.

Instructor: Dale Vidmar is the Information Literacy and Instruction Coordinator for Education, Communication, and Health & Physical Education as well as Librarian at SOU’s Hannon Library. Dale holds Master of Library Science is from Kent State University, and Master of Arts from Southern Oregon University. He has taught on information literacy for all ages, from SOU’s Youth Programs through graduate students. Dale has authored numerous articles in professional journals, including History of Internet Search Tools and Darwin on the Web: The Evolution of Search Tools. He holds the rank of Full Professor.
