The Media Arts concentration offers students a quality academic program complimented by a state of the art studio, editing facilities and cable network. Media arts play an invaluable role in today's Liberal Arts education. The video production concentration is useful to students in a variey of fields, including art, business, applied multimedia, film studies, theatre, communication, criminology, computer science, social sciences, English, and foreign languages.
The emphasis of our program is on aesthetics, remote video, studio production, digital editing, and multimedia design. Courses are hands on and professionally oriented. Students work on real informational and documentary videos with industry professionals. The connection with RVTV allows students to distribute their work over 4 television channels as well as streaming video and video on demand over the internet. Students have the opportunity to work in internships at television stations, production companies, advertising agencies, and with government and non-profit clients. Summer institutes, courses taught by industry professionals and collaboration with other related entities such as SOPTV, AIFF, and other SOU departments, offer students the ability to integrate their academic program with real world experiences.
