When and where is commencement?
Commencement 2010 will be held on Saturday, June 5, at 3pm at the Mountain Arena.
What kind of seating is available for guests?
General seating in the grandstands and bleachers on both sides of the arena is available on a first-come basis. Special seating areas, outside and inside, will be available for elderly guests or those with disabilities. This seating is available on a first-come basis and limited to one escort per guest.
Where is the best place to park?
The best place to park is on the SOU campus in one of the two main parking lots off of Mountain Avenue. Shuttle service will be provided from Mountain Avenue to the Mountain Arena and will run every 15 minutes. Maps and information are available on the directions and parking page.
I am a student graduating in the spring or summer term. Do I need to RSVP or register to participate in Commencement?
You do not need to RSVP or register to participate in Commencement. However, you will need to order your cap and gown from the University Bookstore as soon as possible.
Will there be a rehearsal for graduates before the ceremony?
There isn't a rehearsal, but you must check-in before the ceremony to receive instructions and find your place in the graduate line-up.
How do I order my cap and gown, announcements, and class ring?
The SOU Bookstore provides the information and merchandise you'll need for graduation.
Are tickets needed for guests to attend the commencement ceremony?
Guests do NOT need tickets, but graduates should inform their guests that parking and seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Plan ahead and arrive early!
