There are three main areas in the school: social science, education, and health and physical education. The education section starts on printed catalog page 122. The health and physical education section starts on printed catalog page 132.
The area of social science provides coursework and learning experiences about human behavior from the perspective of several disciplines and provides general social science coursework presenting broad perspectives in single courses. The courses enable students to gain a greater understanding of issues and problems facing the contemporary world. Such courses as The Environment, Women in Society, and Conservation in the United States examine how social, political, and economic activities affect and distribute resources.

Master of arts or master of science degrees in social science are offered through the departments of Health and Physical Education and Psychology. For information, please refer to the specific departmental listings and to the Graduate Studies section of this catalog.
A range of courses from 100-level to graduate level is usually offered during summer session. Each discipline schedules some coursework from the approved curriculum. In addition, summer session is often the time when multidisciplinary classes are offered along with special study programs and workshops.
