Lower Division Courses

VP 115 Video Production Aesthetics

4 credits

Provides an introduction to the fundamental perceptions, practices, and language of video production. Required of all students who lack a working knowledge of video production before they can enroll in other departmental video production courses.

VP 172 Studio Techniques for Video Production

4 credits

Provides an introduction to basic equipment and operating techniques of video production. Explores camera operation, the language of video production, and other necessary equipment and techniques. Required of all students who lack a working knowledge of video production before they can enroll in other department video production courses. Prerequisite: VP 115.

VP 212 Voice Training for Video Production

4 credits

Offers a detailed study of the unique problems of voice communication without face-to-face contact. Involves laboratory work and extensive training in announcing, voice-over, and interviewing situations.

VP 215 Introduction to Field Production

4 credits

Provides an introduction to the necessary production processes, equipment, and equipment applications for video field production. Prerequisite: VP 115.

Upper Division Courses

VP 315 Advanced Field Production

4 credits

Involves supervised application of field production techniques to assigned projects, which must result in a professional product ready to be edited for distribution. Prerequisite: producer certification.

VP 372 Advanced Activities for Video Production

1 to 4 credits per term

Offers supervised video experience using University television production facilities. Prerequisites: producer certification and permission of instructor.

VP 375 Applied Studio and Field Techniques for Video Production

4 credits

Prerequisite: producer certification.

VP 409 Practicum

Credit to be arranged

VP 410 Capstone

1-4 credits a term - maximum 8 credits

Course project, professional application of skills learned, or internship/practicum that synthesizes knowledge gained from the courses taken.
