How To Pursue Specific Internships
- Read the Student Internship Handbook.
- Select 3-4 listings from this information bank that are of the greatest interest to you.
- Make an appointment to meet with the School of Business Internship/Practicum Coordinator, Dr. Joan McBee, CE 141, or with the Coordinator of your Certificate Program.
- If you know the specifics of your desired internship, bring it with you to your first meeting with the coordinator. The Coordinator will verify your qualifications for the internship selected and inform you of any unique aspects of the internship. You will also discuss the required practicum objectives, weekly reports and final paper.
- After your meeting, the Coordinator will contact the organization and verify the internship opportunity.
- You will be responsible for contacting the employer directly and arranging an appointment to discuss the specifics of the internship. Prior to making this contact, you should be prepared to:
- Specify dates and times that you are available for an initial meeting with the contact;
- Determine the days and hours you are available to work during the term; and
- Provide an updated cover letter and resume to the host business supervisor.
- Once you have met with the organization's contact person, you will be responsible for informing the Coordinator of the outcome of the meeting.
- The Coordinator must approve the internship for BA 409 credit.
- The student agreement, application and host site agreement must be submitted before internship hours are started.
