Steve Schein's primary areas of interest include sustainability within the context of organizational leadership; the relationship between organizational strategy, leadership, organizational culture, sustainability, and how to build community in organizations.
In addition to being a CPA and former CEO, Steve Schein has over twenty-five years of leadership, business development, and senior management experience in a broad range of industries. He is a founder of several companies including a New York Stock Exchange Company, ResortQuest International, Inc. Leading up to the initial public offering of ResortQuest in 1998, Mr. Schein had been the founder and President of the two largest resort management companies in Telluride, Colorado and Scottsdale, Arizona. At ResortQuest, he served as the Senior Regional Vice-President of the Western Region, responsible for over 20 resort operating companies throughout the Western US and Canada with combined revenue of over $100 million.
As the managing partner of Windstone Partners, an opportunity based venture and consulting group, Mr. Schein has been a founding investor and consultant in a variety of start-up and early stage opportunities in several industries including computer software, leisure travel, resort development, sports marketing, and international trade.
Prior to ResortQuest and Windstone, he was an international financial auditor with Arthur Young & Co. and RJR Nabisco during the 1980's. He received his B.S. in Accounting from the University of Colorado, Boulder and his Masters in Organization Development from Fielding Graduate University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and has been a member of the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of CPA's. He has international business experience in Mexico, South America, Europe, and Asia and speaks three foreign languages: Spanish, French and Portuguese.
