Donna is an Associate Professor of Business at Southern Oregon University. She joined the faculty subsequent to completion of a BS, Business Administration-Management and an MBA from SOU. Donna completed her PhD program through the School of Computer Information Sciences at Nova Southeastern University in the area of Technology in Education. She teaches Business Computer Applications, Business Planning, Advanced Spreadsheets, International Business, Business Research and Customer Service. Prior to her return to academia, Donna spent many years as a sole proprietor in Texas. She is a member of Phi Kappa Phi and is the recipient of the Outstanding Graduate Student Award for 1999-2000 from the School of Business.
Donna enjoys her position as Faculty Advisor for the SOU In~B.I.T.S. (Business Information Technology Students) Computer Club (National affiliation -- Association of Information Technology Professionals). This club with its many active students has raised money for cancer research during the community-wide Relay for Life, hosted speakers from a variety of computer-related companies, mentored freshman students with computer applications, and provided the university with many services both university-wide and community-wide.
Donna has authored an advanced Excel XP book entitled The Select Series: Microsoft Excel 2002 Advanced, Prentice Hall. During the last year, Donna has also authored several test banks and instructors manuals for various computer applications.
Donna served as the Director for the Youth Programs Computer Academy Summer 2002 and 2003 for students from 10-15 years of age. The academy offers a variety of computer-related classes ranging from Microsoft applications to web page design. Field trips to local businesses were also incorporated into the academy to enable students to see real life applications of computers.
Donna enjoys travel and has visited over 20 countries, including the People's Republic of China, Morocco, England, France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Portugal, Germany, Denmark and the Canary Islands. As a young child Donna attended schools in England and the Canary Islands. Her love for travel has led her to serve as the advisor for business students wishing to study abroad in countries such as Germany, Netherlands, France and Australia.
Donna served as the mastermind behind implementing advanced computer courses in the School of Business to provide students the opportunity to increase their knowledge of business computer applications. These courses also afford the opportunity to be Microsoft Office Specialist certified, a certification recognized worldwide and serves as an industry benchmark of one's literacy and proficiency in computer applications.
