Curt Bacon is a Professor of Business at SOU and has been at the university since 1987.He earned a BS in Business Administration and Economics and an MBA from North Dakota State University as well as an MS in Finance from the University of Oregon. He earned his Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) in Finance from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale . His research interests include the regulation and operation of financial institutions, and the impact on firm valuation. Since 1994, he has presented several papers at the national Financial Management Association meetings and has reviewed papers submitted for publication in the Financial Management Journal.
Curt served as Chair of the School of Business from 1997 to 2004. He has served on the faculty Senate, chaired several search committees, and for many years was an executive board member of the Associated Professors of Southern Oregon University (APSOU). He is currently an active member of the SOU chapter of Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society, one of the primary student advisors in the School of Business, and a big proponent of international study for SOU students.
