Bryophytes and Lichens of the Pacific Northwest


The Genus Cephaloziella

Cephaloziella turneri (Hook.) K. Müll.

       A spiny-leafed Cephaloziella, .2 ~ .3 mm in diameter,
        without underleaves, growing on thin soil over rock,
        within a few kilometers of the Oregon coast.

This plant was growing on thin soil over rock (not in Sphagnum) on a prominent hill within a few kilometers of the Oregon coast.

It fits the description of C. turneri, but decidedly smaller than the norm.

Other Cephaloziella species will be treated here in the future.
