Environmental Education

People

Representing a broad diversity of experiences, interests and skills, the EE community tends to find common ground in its love for the outdoors. In addition to their expertise on the local flora and fauna, EE professors have dynamic research relationships at a number of sites throughout the American West, from the icy slopes of the north Cascades to Nevada's Great Basin desertscapes.Though EE students come from all over the nation and overseas, the program's group field experiences set the stage for lasting friendships. Truly a culture of nature, EE students are known to spend inordinate amounts of free time keying out mysterious plants, obsessing about bird sightings, or speculating about ecological connections. Ever dynamic and multifaceted, they also manage time for salsa dancing performances, playing the rock & roll guitar, and knitting a good pair of legwarmers. Our alumni find careers throughout the US in a number of fields. From municipal sustainability to field ecology, alumni find a Masters of Science in Environmental Education to be a dynamic, door-opening degree. Some graduates use their degree as a stepping stone to additional degrees, applying their experience in the EE program to courses of study in environmental law or as doctoral candidates in education.
