Samantha Pennington-Vrsek

ASSOU term 2013 - 2014

About Me:

I got involved with ASSOU because I wanted to DO something, I want to make things I believe in happen, and I want to be seriously challenged.
I am from Michigan and have lived in Southern Oregon for almost three years. I was a wwoofer at Sanctuary One, an animal sanctuary in the Applegate Valley, when I first came to Oregon. My long-term goal is to create a self-sustaining farm and animal sanctuary that centers around education, respect for all life, and cooperation. My degree in Environmental Studies will help me to create spaces that are sustainable, healthy, and happy for humans, non-humans, and the earth.
There is such a strong sense of community and appreciation for nature in Southern Oregon and I am ecstatic to be a part of that. As Director of Sustainability I will help build a creative, open-minded, and ACTIVE movement on the SOU campus and within Southern Oregon that is pumped about making our world more hospitable and healthy and our minds more aware and connected.
