Associated Students of Southern Oregon University (ASSOU)
We've got your back. As the student government of Southern Oregon University, ASSOU fights for issues that matter to students, whether that's on campus, in the Rogue Valley community, or in the state of Oregon as a whole. As part of the Oregon Student Association, ASSOU is committed to making life better for students through social organizing, legislative advocacy, and voter registration. You can get involved as an intern or volunteer, or contact us with questions.
- Fair housing: when applying for housing off campus in Ashland, many students experience discrimination. To give responsible students legal protection against unfair treatment, ASSOU is working to amend Ashland's fair housing law.
- Campus accessibility: students with disabilities should be able to get around campus safely. ASSOU is fighting to make the SOU facilities accessible as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Student fee autonomy: students pay a fee every term that funds ASSOU and other student activities. To make sure students have full control over how that money is spent, ASSOU is working to strengthen the fee allocation process.
- Voter registration: when students vote, legislators pay more attention to our issues. ASSOU staff are on campus helping each student register to vote at their current address.
