Photography
The photography program at SOU encourages students to broadly explore the medium through traditional and nontraditional methods. Intellectual engagement with historic and contemporary ideas about photography and its role in the visual arts and society is emphasized along with technical skills and proficiency with photographic processes.
Advanced students are encouraged to define and pursue individual creative research. Students work with digital, analog, and alternative photographic processes in a facility incorporating a gang darkroom, individual color room and 20" Hope processor, lighting studio, alternative process room, 21-station digital lab with Hewlett Packard 60" and Epson 24" printers, classroom, and finishing area.
