Dr. Arnie Abrams

Professor, Education
BA, 1975, San Diego State University; MA, 1981, PhD, 1985, Oregon State University. At SOU since 1981 Dr. Abrams has taught at Southern Oregon University for over 20 years. His specialties include instructional design, project management and computer-based training.

Mike Gantenbein

Video & multimedia producer, tech-head and instructor
Instructor - Applied Multimedia Unit at SOU since 1998, Art Dept. since 2000. An alumnus of Southern Oregon University, Mike joined the commercial world of television production soon after graduating with a B.S. in Fine & Performing Arts. After 9 years at the Southern Oregon ABC-TV affiliate, and four years working with a variety of Rogue Valley based advertising agencies, he joined the team in the Applied Multimedia Unit at SOU to share his knowledge and experiences while exploring the expanding area of new media. Mike is currently teaching classes in digital video editing, multimedia authoring, web authoring and digital imaging. During the summer, he also teaches digital media courses for the American Band College.

When he is not teaching at Southern Oregon University, Mike runs his own freelance multimedia business, which includes a digital recording studio and graphic design workstation. He occasionally works as an editor and producer for local ad agencies and small businesses. During 1998-1999 Mike served as President of the Southern Oregon Film & Video Association, the regional trade organization for those working in the media industries.

Don Kay

Before coming to the Oregon, Donald Kay worked as a designer for advertising and design firms in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Since coming to Southern Oregon University he has taught graphic design, illustration and airbrush in the Art Department. Currently Professor Kay is engaged in introducing students to multimedia, digital design and web page design through the newly formed Applied Multimedia Unit, as well as facilitating internships at local design firms, advertising agencies and multimedia companies.

Professor Kay has received international recognition by receiving twelve international design awards for his logos and letterheads and being published in 26 books showing his work. In addition,Professor Kay has received twenty-seven national design awards and fifteen regional and national awards for his design of publications for Southern Oregon University.
