Preview Weekends

Preview Weekend will introduce you to the many reasons Southern Oregon University is such a special place. You will tour campus and the residence halls, meet with faculty in your major, explore resources and facilities, dine in the Cascade Food Court and, if you choose, spend the night in the SOU residence halls. Parents and guests are welcome. Please refer to our campus map for building locations.

Tentative Agenda- FRIDAY

3:00pm-4:30pm- Residence Hall Check-In (Cox Hall)

2:00pm-3:00pm- Financial Aid
This presentation will discuss the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and other available aid programs. Financial Aid staff will review the awarding process and timeline and answer questions in an open forum.

3:00, 3:30, 4:00pm- Residence Hall Tours
Take a tour of the Cascade and Greensprings complexes led by SOU Resident Assistants. Also, learn more about the brand new North Campus Village complex.

4:45pm- Student Session
This fast-paced session will kick-off your time at SOU – prizes will be awarded! Students will depart from the welcome session for dinner in the Cascade Food Court with current SOU students.

Parent/Guest Session
Connect with administrators, deans, and faculty. Refreshments will be provided.

Dinner (open until 7:00pm)
Enjoy dinner in the Cascade Dining Hall with the company of SOU faculty and administrators.

Student Evening Activities
Participate in various activities led by current SOU students.

8:45am-9:30am - Check-In and Continental Breakfast (Stevenson Union Foyer)
Enjoy breakfast and refreshments in the Stevenson Union.

9:30am-10:30am- Welcome and Opening Session
Administrators will provide an overview of the program and the opportunities at SOU. A student panel will answer many of your questions.

10:30am- 11:30am- Academic and Information Fair
Explore academic programs, student services, campus resources, organizations and more!

11:30am-12:30pm- Faculty Presentations/ Classroom Sessions
Professors from various departments will present a favorite lecture.

Lunch (beginning at 12:30pm)
Enjoy a buffet lunch in the Stevenson Union.

12:45pm-1:45pm- Campus and Residence Hall Tours
Explore campus facilities and Greensprings/Cascade/North Campus Village residence hall complexes. Family Housing’s Old Mill Village (Wightman Street) is open for individual drop-in tours.

1:15pm-2:00pm- Financial Aid Information Session

1:15pm-1:45pm- Disabilities Resources at SOU
Learn more about accommodations and transition support for students with disabilities and learning challenges at SOU. Discuss how to access campus services and required documentation and how to connect with Disability Resources staff.
