Preview Programs
SOU Admissions hosts three different Preview programs for prospective students. Each of these programs: Preview Day, Preview Weekend and Transfer Days, introduce prospective students to the many facets of campus life and to the people that make Southern Oregon University a special place. Prospective students get to tour campus and the residence halls, meet with faculty in their major, and explore resources and facilities including dining in the Cascade Food Court. Preview Weekends provide students with everything that Preview Days provide and more: the opportunity to become a Raider for a weekend including staying overnight in an SOU residence hall!
Faculty and staff can take an active roll in Preview programs by:
- Small Groups: Groups will be lead by a faculty member and a current student. The goal is for a discussion on the academic experience, what students need to do to be successful at college, faculty expectations, and why SOU is a great choice.
- Student Panel: During the opening session, the Vice President of Student Affairs facilitates a panel of current students who answer questions from the audience.
- Academic Presentations: Approximately 8-10 faculty from various disciplines will conduct engaging presentations that provide a glimpse into his or her academic discipline and tie that back into the overall School he or she represents.
- Academic and Information Fairs: Faculty and staff will represent their departments to allow all Preview participants the opportunity to have meaningful interactions with any and every program they wish.
