Meet the Staff
Admissions Counseling
Mark Bottorff: Director of Admissions
Mark comes to Southern Oregon University from Washington State University, the University of Redlands and Pacific University. Mark will guide the recruitment efforts in the Office of Admissions and will recruit in central Oregon in Jefferson, Deschutes, Crook, Lake and Klamath Counties, and in the San Francisco Bay, Sacramento and Seattle areas.
Armando Lopez: Associate Director of Admissions
Armando is responsible for coordinating minority outreach. He recruits in the Rogue Valley; Linn and Lane Counties in Oregon; and in Southern California. Armando has a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Southern Oregon University.
Ian Parent: Assistant Director of Admissions
Ian assists with the coordination of campus programs and recruits in Hawaii and the Portland metropolitan area comprising Multnomah and Clackamas Counties. Ian has an MBA from Utah State University and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Oregon.
James Brown: Admissions Counselor
James is new to the Admissions staff and recruits prospective students in the Portland area. James received his Bachelor's degree in Psychology and his Certification in Management of Human Resources from Southern Oregon University.
Zac Olson: Admissions Counselor
Zac recruits prospective students in eastern Oregon including Hood, Wasco, Sherman, and Wheeler Counties; in eastern Washington, and in Idaho. Zac received his Bachelor's degree in Health and Physical Education and his Master's of Science in Social Sciences from Southern Oregon University.
Kendal Vreeland: Admissions Counselor
Kendal recruits prospective students in the Rogue Valley; Lincoln, Benton, Polk,Yamhill, and Marion Counties in Oregon; and in the San Francisco Bay Area. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Health and Physical Education from Southern Oregon University.
Sarah Weiss: Admissions Counselor
Sarah recruits in the Rogue Valley; in the Northern California area; Josephine, Curry, Coos, and Douglas Counties in Oregon; and in Alaska. She has a Bachelor's degree in International Studies with minors in Spanish and Russian from Willamette University.
Admissions Operations and Evaluation
Brian Kinsey: Associate Director of Admissions
Brian manages the operations of the Admissions Office and assists with recruiting as needed. Brian has a Bachelor's degree in History from Southern Oregon University.
Elsa Cabrera: Associate Director of Registration and Records
Elsa is responsible for testing and maintenance of the Curriculum Program and Planning component of the Student Information System; an automated degree audit designed to guide SOU students in completing their degree program. Elsa received a Bachelor's degree in Language and Speech from California State University at Northridge and her master's degree in Educational Administration from San Jose University.
Natalie Coppedge: Assistant Director of Admissions for Processing
Natalie manages the evaluation team and evaluates applications for prospective students T through Z. Natalie has a Bachelor's degree in Human Communication from Southern Oregon University.
Laura Bruno: Transfer Articulation Specialist and Credential Evaluator
Laura evaluates course equivalencies for transfers from other academic institutions and applications for prospective students A through L. Laura graduated from Southern Oregon University with a Bachelor's Degree in Health and Physical Education and is currently pursuing her Master's Degree in Social Science at SOU.
Teresa Dopyera: Information Specialist
Teresa is one of the first friendly faces to greet people as they enter the Admissions Office at SOU. Teresa has a Bachelor's degree from Southern Oregon University in Psychology and Women's Studies.
Scott Morrell: Transfer Articulation Specialist and Credential Evaluator
Scott evaluates course equivalencies for transfers from other academic institutions and applications for prospective students M through S. Scott graduated from Southern Oregon University with a Bachelor's Degree in International Studies.
Robin Parsons: Marketing and Communications Specialist
Robin maintains the Admissions and Enrollment Services web sites, prepares outreach marketing presentations and articles for publication. Robin has a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Social Psychology from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Heather Saunders-Harbaugh: Information Specialist
Heather is another one of the friendly faces that greets people as they enter the Admissions Office at SOU. Heather joins us from the University of Massachusetts and is studying for her degree in Communication.
Julie Smith: Academic Advisor
Julie is an Academic Advisor who is available in the Admissions Office to prospective transfer students for transcript evaluations and advising. Julie has a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Southern Oregon University.
