The Southern Oregon Region

The town of Ashland, Oregon is a community of approximately 23,000 people located in Southern Oregon at the elevation of nearly 2000 feet. Ashland enjoys a moderate climate with less rainfall per year than other locations in the Pacific Northwest.

Ashland is located in a dynamically beautiful natural region with Crater Lake about 2 hours away, Mt. Shasta about an hour away, and an abundance of rivers and mountains where winter sports abound as well as world-class rafting and fishing. In a September 2003 article, Outside magazine rated SOU 20th in a list of the best places to study offering an abundance of recreational opportunities.

Ashland is also in the center of an active cultural region being home to the world renowned Oregon Shakespeare Festival, the Schneider Museum of Art, and the Ashland Independent Film Festival. The Britt Music Festival in historic Jacksonville is only 30 minutes away. Here is a taste of what the region is like:
