Admissions

Application Checklist for Homeschooled Applicants:

Complete an SOU Application:
Mail your written SOU Application or use our Secure Online Application anytime after the beginning of your senior year. There is a $50 non-refundable application fee. If you qualify, you may wish to defer the $50 application fee until you enroll for classes. To see if you qualify, complete the deferral form.

If You Have High School Transcripts:
Please send us any transcripts you have. If you have completed any college level work at the high school level, please send those official transcripts from the college you attended as well.

Send Us Your Test Scores:
We will need SAT (and SAT subject tests) or ACT (and SAT II or SAT subject tests) scores. You can have test scores sent to us by the appropriate testing agency (College Board for SAT, etc.) or we can take your test scores from your official high school transcripts. Our SAT code is 4702 and our ACT code is 3496. You can submit an application and begin the application process prior to taking the SAT or ACT.

If You Have Earned Your GED:
If you have taken the exam here in Oregon, contact the Department of Education or visit GED123.org and have them send us your official score report. Score reports must arrive at SOU in sealed envelopes to be considered official. If you have earned your GED in another state, please contact that state's education department or test administrator. Submission of your GED score would waive the SAT subject test requirement listed above.

Second Language Requirement:
If you were in the High School Class of 1997 or later, you will need to show completion of 2 years of the same high school level second language or 2 terms of the same college level second language. If you are unable to demonstrate this proficiency, we can admit you with a Second Language Contract, which would instead require you to complete the foreign language requirement prior to graduating from SOU.

Financial Aid and Scholarships:
You must submit a FAFSA to be considered for financial aid at SOU. This form is available at schools, libraries, and online. Our FAFSA school code is 003219. Also apply on-line for SOU scholarships.
