Admissions

Freshman Admissions Requirements

Your application will be considered complete only after the following items are received in the Office of Admissions:

  • Application for admission
  • $50 application fee
  • Official transcripts
  • Official SAT1 or ACT test scores (these scores will be considered official if they are present on your official high school transcript)

Applicants must satisfactorily complete 14 units of college preparatory subjects (1 unit equals one academic year)

  • English (4 units)
  • Mathematics (3 units: one year each of Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II)
  • Science (2 units)
  • Social Sciences (3 units)
  • Foreign Language (2 units in the same language)

At Southern Oregon University we proudly review each application for admission individually and our admissions decisions may be based on several factors in addition to GPA and test scores.  Meeting minimums does not guarantee success nor should failing minimums drive the entire admissions decision.  For this reason we want applicants to consider our AVERAGE academic profile rather than minimums.

Middle 50%

GPA:  2.91 to 3.57

SAT:  910 to 1120

ACT:  19 to 25

Applicants who feel they fall below our averages or who may not meet minimums are encouraged to submit any or all of the following with their application for admission:

  • Letter of recommendation
  • Counselor recommendation
  • Resume
  • Other supporting materials
