G. Valmont Thomas
The Director and the Rehearsal Process, an a la carte course
G. Valmont Thomas has been a member of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s acting Company since 1998. In 2010 he plays Ensemble Man C in Well and Keller/Ensemble in She Loves Me. He is a participating director/actor in the 2010 Black Swan Project, the new in-house OSF Theatre Laboratory. Former Artistic Director of Seattle’s G.A.P. Theatre, G. Val was a board member of both the Washington Alliance for Theatre Educators and Theatre Puget Sound. He served as assistant professor of acting and directing at The Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film at University of Nebraska-Lincoln. G. Val has directed for OSF’s Staged Reading Series, Ashland New Plays Festival, regional theatres in Seattle, and Ashland High School. A narrator for Blackstone Audio, he has more than ten titles to his credit, two of which earned a 2009 Earphone Award. G. Val is a popular acting teacher and a sought-after audition coach. He holds a BA from Western Washington University and an MFA in directing for the theatre from Penn State University.
In 2010 G. Val joined Penny Metropulos to teach the a la carte course The Director and the Rehearsal Process. In 2009, he joined Don Weingust to teach the a la carte course Bring Shakespeare to Life: Text to Performance.
