Dennis Smith
Dennis Smith is a former actor and playwright who began teaching at SOU in 1985. He has made appearances at numerous regional theatres around the country including the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. He is a past member of Actors Equity, the Screen Actors Guild, the Writers Guild, and the Dramatists Guild. He is also the author of two books, an award-winning play titled Excursion Fare and a novel titled The Miracles of Santo Fico. Smith directs numerous plays at SOU as well as other Rogue Valley theatre venues, including the Rogue Opera, the Oregon Cabaret Theatre, and the Lyric Theatre Company. He holds a BA in theatre arts from California State University at Chico and an MFA from the University of Oregon.
In 2005 and 2006, Dennis joined Jim Edmonson to teach the a la carte course The Director and the Rehearsal Process.
