Ezra Severin
Drafting, Rigging and Stage Production for the Master of Theatre Studies
Ezra Severin has been involved in theatre from the age of five, and has worked variously as a carpenter, electrician, props artisan, and painter in the technical departments of the Berkeley Shakespeare Festival, Shakespeare Santa Cruz, the California Shakespeare Festival, Marin Shakespeare Company, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. It was while working as the Technical Director for Sir Francis Drake High School in Marin County that he realized the value of educating the newer generations of theatre technicians.
He attended graduate school in North Carolina before relocating to Oregon. After three seasons building scenery for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival he found a new home in the SOU Theatre Department. He holds a BA in Theatre Arts from Sonoma State University (1994) and an MFA in Technical Direction from North Carolina School of the Arts (2000).
