Math Tutors for Hire
Tutors on this list are self-employed and normally charge $25-35 per hour. The individual hiring the tutor pays the tutor directly; Southern Oregon University is not responsible for any charges incurred under these arrangements. The SOU Mathematics Department monitors and supplies this list as a service to the community at large, but cannot guarantee the quality of service. I majored in philosophy (B.A.) and later psychology (M.A.) but have taught math at a private school for two years, and have tutored math (mostly middle and high school levels) for over ten years, out of my love of mathematics. My teaching of chess for almost seven years furthered my understanding of problem solving. My focus is not on advanced mathematics but on basic understanding of beginning and elementary mathematics, to make it doable and enjoyable as a game, logic puzzle, or mind training.

I have been teaching and tutoring for over 26 years, elementary to College level, basic math through Calculus.
