Bachelor's of Science or Arts
Most majors offer a choice between a student earning a Bachelor's of Science or a Bachelor's of Arts. What is the Difference?
2000-2006 Bachelor of Science Requirement: Students must have 8 credits of Math (any MTH course above 100), Computer Science (any CS course), or Designated Logic (check catalog for designated logic courses). In addition, students must complete at least 48 credits of Business, Science, and/or Social Science credits.
2007 Bachelor of Science Requirement: Students must have a total of 8 credits in Math (above 100) or designated logic classes (see catalog) and a combined total of 48 credits from BS list in catalog.
2000-2006 Bachelor of Arts Requirement: Students must have second year college level foreign language (SOU offers French, German, Spanish or Japanese 201, 202 & 203) or have completed 4 years consecutively in high school without break, verified through high school transcripts. In addition, students must complete at least 48 credits of Humanities (Arts & Letters) credits.
2007 Bachelor of Arts Requirement: Students must have second year college level foreign language (min. 12 credits) or have completed 4 years consecutively in high school. In addition, students must complete at least 48 credits from BA list in catalog.
Bachelor of Fine Arts Requirement: Majors in Art History and Theater, have an option of applying for a BFA. Students wishing to apply for a BFA need to work through a major advisor and be approved for a BFA program.
