Accelerated Baccalaureate Program
   Application Process

1. Accelerated Baccalaureate Application. (see Application Forms)

2. Personal essay addressing your interest in the Accelerated Baccalaureate Degree Program and the specific major you have chosen (minimum 500 words). Discuss the qualities and abilities you possess that would make you successful in the program, such as self-discipline, writing and critical thinking skills, academic and/or professional accomplishments in your chosen major, etc.

3. Three recommendations using the Accelerated Baccalaureate Program Recommendation Form. Who should you ask for recommendations?

● If you have a job or volunteer in an area related to the major you have chosen you may want to ask your supervisor to complete a form.

● At least two forms should be completed by teachers.*  One of these should be from a current teacher. The other could be from another current teacher or one you have had previously.

● Choose a teacher who can talk about your preparation for the major you have selected.

● It is recommended you do not choose two teachers from the same school area (see list below). Select teachers who know you well and can talk about your abilities in different subject areas.

*If you are unable to obtain recommendations from teachers, please contact Curt Bacon, Accelerated Baccalaureate Program Director at (541) 552-6487 or email bacon@sou.edu for assistance.
