You are about to enter my Heteroclite Site, which seeks to to push beyond the normative, text-centered, conventions of academic prose by drawing on performance art, critical theory, and the manifold resources of camp. I believe this type of endeavor is especially important in a liberal arts environment. Anybody can tweak an existing paradigm, but the real players are the ones who redefine the game. Rather than laboring dutifully within existing boundaries, SOU students should be trained to, as management types put it, "think outside the nine dots." This site tries to encourage exactly that. Parts of the Heteroclite Site also explore questions of material embodiment and post-embodiment by drawing on Deleuzian and other theories, as well as gleefully interrogating conservative assumptions in general. If this might be a problem for you, go back and/or read the Sanctimonious Disclaimer. | ||
